California meets Italian surf culture in “Seea in Italy” short film by Onde Nostre

San Clemente, CA (May 26, 2015)– Innovative women’s surfwear brand Seea teamed up with Milan-based director, Luca Merli’s Block10 Productions for a short film that brings vintage-inspired California surf style to the iconic Italian coastline.
Starring California-based Seeababe ambassadors Mele Saili and Jenayl Peters, the four-minute film follows the friends as they experience Italy for the first time — visiting famed Italian landmarks such the Cathedral and markets in Sicily, vineyards in Tuscany, and longboard surfing in the warm Mediterranean Sea.
For Seea designer Amanda Chinchelli who grew up in Italy, the 2015 collection was an ode to her homeland with golden geometric tiles reminiscent of southern Italy architecture, stripes that recall umbrellas across the Italian Riviera, and color combinations that evoke European sophistication and elegance.
The film’s wardrobe styled by Elisabetta Dal Bello (whose styling credits have appeared in Vanity Fair Italy and Italian Elle) juxtapose Seea’s swimwear with Italian ready-to-wear tailoring — perfectly illustrating Seea’s elegance and versatility from the waves to everyday wear.
“Seea in Italy” joins the “Onde Nostre” film series, which translates to “Our Waves,” and is an ongoing project by Block10 Productions that documents surfers, shapers and artists connected to the Italian surf culture. The film was shot on both digital film by cinematographer Giovanni Sbrokked Barbareris, and 16mm film with Bolex camera by Luca Merli.
“Today's best high definition cameras can track a drop of water at 300 frames per second and cost a fraction of the price of the outdated film technology,” explains Merli, founder of Block10 Productions based in Milan, Italy. “But film is something which has a special and unique look. It resembles memories — the way we dream. I like the idea of sacrificing details for style,” he continued.
The Seea in Italy film is available to watch now, and the swimwear featured in the film is available to shop at theseea.com.
