Swedish couple and college students, Petter Toremalm and Linn Lundgren started their blog SunshineStories to document their surf travels around the world. Their dream was always to start a surf retreat in one of these sunny destinations with friendly waves and welcoming culture. After they graduated and were looking for a place to call home, the 25-year-olds found all of that and more on the magical island of Sri Lanka.
The intimate and personal retreat is designed with every loving detail considered by the couple. Holding a maximum of 17 guests, the retreat feels as if you’re staying at a friend’s home colonial villa abroad. Guests experience local life as Petter and Linn do: surfing friendly waves in warm water and tropical weather, unwinding with yoga flow twice a day, enjoying the flavors of local, healthy food cooked by chef Bandulla, and adventuring in their vintage 4x4 jeep to the Sri Lankan rhythm of life.
