SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Seea is a celebration of waterwomen,
and the ocean is our temple.

We acknowledge that garment production can be an intricate and messy process, especially when it comes to environmental impact. But doing our best to protect valuable resources of land, air and water is simply the right thing to do.

OUR MATERIALS

Approximately 70% of a product’s environmental impact happens during the manufacturing process. That’s why we work hard to make the most informed decisions when choosing fabrics and design with environmental impact in mind.

SWIMWEAR FABRICS

Recycled Polyester

High-quality, recycled polyester yarns are made from recycled materials, including post-consumer plastic bottles, pre-consumer industrial waste or a hybrid of both.

Content: 80% Recycled Polyester; 20% Spandex

Econyl®

100% regenerated nylon fiber from fishnets and other pre-consumer and post-consumer nylon waste. It's exactly the same as brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again. Fabric made in Italy.

Content: 80% Recycled Nylon; 20% Spandex

Textured Fabric

We’ve finally found textured fabrics using recycled fibers! These will be implemented for our 2021 Collection. The fabrics currently in use are made with virgin nylon and/or polyester fibers. Our fabric suppliers are located in France, Canada, Brazil and China.

Content: 80% Polyester; 20% Spandex

C-Skin

Feels like an ultralight 0.5 mm neoprene, but this special polyester/spandex fabric is a multiple layered knit that breathes, moves and feels buttery smooth like a second skin. In this case, C-Skin’s fit, comfort, functionality, performance, durability and warmth can’t be matched with a recycled alternative. However, we are currently working toward developing a new C-Skin made of recycled polyamides. Fabric made in Taiwan, printed in the U.S.A.

Content: 80% Polyester; 20% Spandex

APPAREL FABRICS

Recover

Collects old garments and textile waste, which is then shredded and spun into new yarns and fabrics. This upcycling process saves water, energy, waste from landfill, and doesn’t use any harmful dyes or finishes. We worked directly with Recover to create super soft terrycloth fabrics in our own special jacquards made from upcycled cotton and recycled polyester. Fabric made in Portugal.

Content: 70% Upcycled Cotton; 25% Recycled Polyester;  5% Unknown

Deadstock

Most clothing brands purchase new fabric from fabric mills every season. After all the garments are made, the leftover fabric is called deadstock. In most cases, deadstock fabrics are eventually sent to landfill. We've rescued this fabric before it’s been discarded to create clothing for your journey to self-discovery.

AS OF 2018, SEEA'S WETSUIT RANGE IS NEOPRENE-FREE.

We replaced neoprene with plant-based Yulex technology and better yet, Yulex performs excellently in warmth, comfort, stretch, and durability.

Why We Choose Yulex

Yulex is a 100% natural rubber, harvested from trees that are Forest Stewardship Council certified to ensure that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
